ElringKlinger is a global development partner and key parts supplier to the automotive industry. Its product range includes cylinder-head and specialty gaskets, plastic housing components, and shielding technology for engines, gears, exhaust systems, and underbodies. The company supplies parts to almost all automobile manufacturers in Europe and North and South America, as well as many in Asia. Its products, all developed and manufactured in-house, are making a significant contribution to the reduction of fuel consumption and emissions. ElringKlinger also develops innovative products for alternative technologies (e.g. lithium ion batteries) from the drawing board to production maturity. The company takes a strategic approach to harnessing innovation in order to provide ecologically sound mobility solutions and ensure sustainable, profitable growth. It applied the same approach to the selection of a service provider for its internal upgrade to SAP SRM 7.0, by choosing apsolut as a proven, innovative partner. The upgrade involved implementing small sub-functions and redesigning the workflow (transforming it into an item-based workflow with additional approval levels). In addition, the company's key user received intensive training in administration and development.
