ESG

10/08/11

One of the distinguishing features of the ESG brand is the transfer of technology between various markets. For almost five years, ESG has been developing, integrating, and operating electronics and IT systems for the military, the public sector, and private enterprises. ESG's customer base includes companies operating in the automotive and aerospace and defense sectors, as well as telecommunications and the area of consumer and investment goods. ESG pursues a future management strategy to ensure the sustainable enhancement of its competitive capabilities by identifying new ideas, opportunities, and trends. In keeping with this strategy, ESG embarked on a joint project with apsolut, the SAP SRM experts, to upgrade from SRM 5 to SRM 7 in the SRM@ERP scenario. The project objective was to create a homogeneous, future-proof system landscape that would offer a unified ordering platform for all users and areas.

Ralf Bödecker, Head of Organization and Internal Procedures at ESG Elektroniksystem- und Logistik-GmbH, describes the project outcome as follows: "With SAP SRM, we're now running a forward-looking solution, which optimizes our industry-specific workflows and simplifies all of our procurement processes and logistical operations. This provides us with a springboard for the successful expansion of our market position as a global center of excellence and a specialized systems provider for both individual modules and complete systems."

Expert collaboration

"apsolut did a really great job for us", says Ralf Bödecker of apsolut's contribution to the project. "The team collaborated with our key users to perform the upgrade from SRM 5 to SRM 7 in the SRM@ERP scenario and to implement the integration of SAP PS into SRM. Thanks to the professional training provided by apsolut, our employees were able to start using and benefiting from the new functions right from the word go". Since completion of the project, ESG has been using a homogeneous system landscape, which offers many benefits in addition to its wide range of functions, including significantly shorter lead times. Enhanced data quality is also guaranteed at all times. In addition, the management team at ESG now have access to more transparent data and enhanced analysis and reporting options, which will help them make business decisions in the future.

The benefits of using SRM 7.0 are clear:
