Infraserv Höchst

12/03/10

Infraserv Höchst, headquartered in Frankfurt am Main, operates sophisticated technical infrastructures for the chemicals, pharmaceuticals and related process industries. Its production and research site at the "Industriepark Höchst" industrial park in Frankfurt am Main is one of the largest of its kind in Europe.
Once apsolut GmbH had successfully implemented an upgrade from SAP SRM 4.0 to 7.0 for Infraserv Höchst (ISH) in October 2009, everything was in place for the follow-up project, involving the design, implementation and enhancement of operational and strategic procurement processes with SRM 7.0. Following an intense selection process, the company decided that apsolut GmbH was the best consulting partner for the follow-up project also due to the specialist expertise and superior process knowledge it could offer.

The first priority in the project was to enhance the existing processes for free-text procurement and to implement supplier management, with a view to creating a central supplier database for ISH following supplier registration. Centralized control of operational and strategic requirements based on supplier lists enables, among other things, optimization in the areas of provider selection, requirement bundling and the identification of sources of supply for free-text orders. From now on, buyers will be able to view detailed, relevant and accurate information about a supplier at a glance in the business partner master record. The free-text procurement and supplier management processes were successfully integrated into the company's live production system by March 1, 2010.

The next steps in the project will focus on the procurement and tracking of both simple and complex services (in accordance with the GAEB (the German Joint Committee for Electronics in Construction)) in the SAP Supplier Self-Service Portal and the mapping of contract management to enable, for the first time, central maintenance of all contracts in SRM. Flexible monitoring and alert functions add up to easy and transparent operational contract processing in the area of strategic purchasing at ISH. All contract release orders from the ERP system or catalog are registered and controlled centrally in SRM. As a result, it will also be possible in the future to import service specifications or catalogs that are planned in source systems into a catalog with a contract reference and to access them from there.
