The Finnish-Swedish Stora Enso group is the world's second-largest forest products company in terms of production capacity, and is one of the largest global manufacturers of paper and packaging. The company currently has around 38,000 employees in more than 40 countries across five continents, and boasts a production capacity of 13.1 million metric tons of paper and board, plus 7.5 million cubic meters of sawn wood products, of which 3.2 million cubic meters are used in further processing in-house. Group headquarters are in Helsinki, Finland. Following an intense selection process, the company decided that apsolut GmbH was the best consulting partner to manage the project due to the specialist expertise and superior process knowledge it could offer. Mr. Schiwek, SAP Purchasing Specialist at Stora Enso, explained the decision as follows: "In particular, the excellent expert knowledge, competence, and flexibility of the apsolut team made a lasting impression on us!" Thanks to SAP SRM, all strategic purchasing processes can be handled in a single system. SAP SRM will replace the company's existing stand-alone purchasing solutions and its contract management system. As a result, processes can be made more efficient without any integration gaps or duplicated data storage. New processes, such as the use of electronic RFXs and reverse auctions, promise to bring additional savings in relation to material costs. It is currently planned that the project will comprise the following elements:

• SAP Bidding Engine (electronic RFXs and reverse auctions)
• SAP SRM Contract Management (operational and strategic contract management)
• SAP SRM Supplier Self Service (supplier portal for collaborative purchase order processing with suppliers, including a service entry process for service orders)
• SAP SRM Supplier Management (supplier registration, supply base management, supplier evaluation)
• SAP SRM Self Service Procurement (procurement of indirect goods and services, including catalog management)
