Native Fiori Apps

In contrast to Fiori web apps, native apps are full-fledged smartphone applications that are even better tailored to the user experience on mobile devices and offer improved performance. In addition, native apps enable the integration of a wide range of functionalities.

General application examples of native functions

Near Field Communication [NFC]
Near Field Communication [NFC]

This wireless data exchange between closely located devices enables the automatic pairing of devices, mobile payment functions and the use of the ID function, e.g. for ticket counters.

Accelerometer

The acceleration sensor in the smartphone is used, for example, to measure movement and count steps. Locating functions can also be improved and virtual reality is made possible.

Global Positioning System [GPS]
Global Positioning System [GPS]

In addition to navigation, the smartphone's location function enables the tracking of deliveries and optimizes processes such as automatic filtering for hotel bookings.

Camera

In addition to scanning QR codes, the integrated smartphone camera allows processes to be optimized by using automatic Character Recognition, Face Recognition (e.g. for identification) and Feature Recognition (e.g. for Product Recognition).

Voice

The voice recording function of the smartphone offers options for call recording, voice control, speech recognition, as well as voice messaging and barrier-free programs.

Fiori for iOS & Android

For native apps, a distinction is made between Fiori for iOS and Fiori for Android due to the different mobile operating systems. SAP combines the user interface guidelines of the operating system manufacturers with its own Fiori principles to provide specific Fiori guidelines for each system. Together with the technical software development kit, SAP provides the basic Fiori development principles for each deployment scenario.

SAP has been collaborating with Apple since 2016 and offers the possibility of creating native iOS apps. The design language Fiori for iOS combines the Apple Human Interface Guidelines with the Fiori principles. With the Software Development Kit for Fiori for iOS, mobile iOS applications can be quickly and easily connected to your backend systems. The use of offline functionality even allows you to work without an active Internet connection. The data stored is encrypted in a local database on the mobile device and synchronized with an active Internet connection.

Fiori for Android aims - like Fiori for iOS - combines the advantages of the Android guidelines with the Fiori guidelines to create a full-fledged Android app with the best possible user experience. With the help of the Software Development Kit for Fiori for Android, a wider range of devices can be used.

We have already developed and implemented several native apps for our customers, thus optimizing existing processes.
